Does anyone remember some of the productions of the NEHI Drama Club? There were several during those years.  One big one was B_______________.  Fill in the blanks.  Lots of great music in that one.

I'm not SURE what you are getting at, but a little BIRDIE told me that it was fun!

Being in Choir & Gondoliers, Bye Bye Birdie was my favorite to be in!! We had a ball doing it and our production was actually pretty top rate -- great, fun story -- great singing AND acting -- great set design and crew -- one of my all-time favorite memories.....thanks for reminding me. It's amazing how our memories can take us back in an instant as though we are still there --- it actually feels pretty good.

I can still remember most of the songs from that musical.  "Why can't kids be like we were, perfect in every way? What's the matter with kids today?"  "Put on a happy face!" What a great time!  There was another production we did too.  It involved a tiny nation declaring war on the US and then asking for aid when it surrendered.  It was a short little play.  Can't remember the name of that one.  Anyone out there got any ideas?  I have hit a brick wall!

Actually, I was in that one!  Remember, there are no small roles, only small actors!

Okay, that was The Mouse That Roared.  Funny!!  I think it originally starred, in the film maybe, Peter Sellers ??  It was silly but so much fun!  Yes, no small parts just small actors.  :-)

Hadn't thought of Bye Bye Birdie in a while.  I was in that one, I was the Mayor's wife.  What fun!

Robert Challener ran the drama department, and Dale Stonecipher did all the choral / music, etc.   My sister Dona (class of '64) and I are still in touch with Mr. "C" and he's still going strong... living in Connecticut, I think.  I've sent him a few pictures of my community theatre productions over the years and he always replies.   He actually wrote a book about "Theatre in the Round".  He was very innovative for a high school teacher.  Remember he staged arena-productions with about 100 seats ON THE auditorium stage, and the playing area was only about 10x20-feet wide.  The first-row of audience was only about 2-feet away from the actors.  Another British comedy we did was "SEE HOW THEY RUN" .. about a Vicar and his American wife.   I started my career as a character actress playing Miss Skillon !   David Rupprecht (class of '66?) was in our drama classes... and went on to a pretty successful TV career.

We had quite a few talented classmates and near-classmates who went on to careers or, avocations,  in the biz.  Who else can we name?

OMG, now the names become familiar.  My brain cells had shut down there for awhile.  Yes I do remember David.  I would ocassionally see his name on TV but haven't for sometime now.  I had forgot about the other notable production.  Being involved that senior year in a small way with the Drama Club was the best of time.  I believe it was the beginning of curing me of my shyness back then.  Having to get up on a stage in front of a crowd was scary but I survived it.  Could face most anything after that.  HA HA!

Don't forget Tom Stovall, I'm not sure what all he did, but I know he was involved in the movie Silkwood.
