Richard J. Ammon, 55, of St. Petersburg, died Wednesday (Sept. 8, 2004) at Kindred Hospital Bay Area -- St. Petersburg after a long illness. Born in Pittsburgh, he moved here in 1957 from Fellsburg, Pa., and attended Holy Family Catholic Church. He was a teacher at Tyrone, Lynch and Sawgrass Elementary schools. He served on the PTA board, the School Advisory Committee and was interim director of the St. Petersburg Hot Line. Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Mary Lou; a son, Charles, a daughter, Catherine, his mother, Dorothy Ammon, and a sister, Nancy Ammon, all of St. Petersburg; and a brother, Robert, Seminole.
