Vern Harper

To all friends and family, Vernon John Harper passed away peacefully earlier this afternoon after a long struggle with many maladies over the years.  I personally choose to remember before many of these started and remember him as a great father, a savvy businessman and the life of the party.  He was

someone I looked up to with great reverence.  RIP Dad.  You will be sorely missed.

From John Harper, Vern's twin brother.

As many of you know it is not often I send a post but I need to do so now because my life long best friend and twin brother Vernon (Vern) passed away last month. Vern was my biggest cheer leader through the years at WMEL Talk Radio and in fact going back to the early start at WLCY Radio in St.Petersburg , Florida where we grew up.
Vern was the type of person everyone wanted to talk to with a warm personality, wit, and respect for others.  Vern was the total package.  From talking Florida State Sports , Tampa Bay Rays baseball, to music and of course the story he told everyone about the pictures Vern and our friends had taken with many of the New York yankee greats only to find out the person B whims the camera never took the lens cover off and pictures with Mantel, Maris and others were gone.  But Vern was good about the story and pictures that would never be and used that moment in his life to tell the story to everyone he met .
Vern was so proud of his children  Jennifer and Ryañ and the grandkids  too!  Well this post cannot do justice to the loving and wonderful man and best friend Vernon John Harper was.  Most nights after our phone calls we used a line from the Muppets…i would say “ I guess we can call it a night? and Vern’s line was better than calling it a show!  Good night Vern… call me if you get scared.
Love…your little brother John
