86, of St Petersburg formerly of Cleveland, OH, died Jan. 10 from complications of COPD. His successful 20-year military career as command pilot included flying the Berlin Airlift. After retiring from the USAF, he earned his BA (1965) and MA (1972) degrees from USF and taught distributive education at Northeast High School from 1965 to 1986. John volunteered many hours delivering Meals-On-Wheels, working in soup kitchens, and donating blood. He was an active member of the Cathedral Latin Alumni Assn. and Holy Family Catholic Church. A funeral mass will be held Saturday, Jan. 24 at 11 am at Holy Family Catholic Church, St. Petersburg. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Holy Family Catholic School Financial Assistance Program. He is survived by his wife, Ethel; daughter, Sandra Pullara; granddaughter, Laura Rounds; great-grandson, Ocean Fitts; and nephew, Larry Skelton.
